| Rooibos (most common pronunciation: Roy-boss) is an herbal "tea" derived from the South Africian Red Bush (Aspalathus linearis) plant. It has a unique red colour and a sweet, slightly nutty taste. It is often enjoyed with milk and a bit of sugar. Unlike black tea, this red tea doesn't become as astringent when steeped for too long and is milder in flavour and strength. Rooibos tea can be flavoured with the addition of flavoured oils, crystals or pieces of additives such as chocolate and wild flowers.
